Traveling to a new country or a tropical resort far, far away isn’t your only vacation option this summer.  To escape the hustle, bustle and day-to-day responsibilities of normal lives, a staycation may by just what you need for a week of fun at home!

A staycation is a great opportunity to save money on hotels, transportation and other travel costs that can add up quickly, especially when multiplied for a family.

To start planning your staycation, it is best to still set a reasonable budget for your week (or day) of fun at home.  Even though you are saving on some travel costs, it is still helpful to set some money aside for local activities or eating out.  Here’s a couple ideas to jump start your staycation planning:

Visit Your Closest Visitor’s Center

Most Visitor Centers will have free activities and fun history for tourists.

Walk Around

Stop by your local art galleries, see what events are happening for free around your city, sign up for free introductory classes/passes at that gym or studio you’ve been meaning to try.

Launch Your At Home Spa

Get your facial mask ready, dim the light, play some relaxation music and light some candles: time to enjoy Ma Moison Spa.

GO TO A NEAR BY PARK

Plan a day with friends or family to play lawn games, find a quiet spot to read a book, or pack a picnic lunch while enjoying  the outdoors.

Do What YOU Want To Do

Been meaning to catch up on reading? Movies? Gardening? Lounging? Do it! Your staycation is a perfect excuse to do what YOU want to do.

Whatever you end up doing, a staycation is more than just a week at home, it is an planned time of relaxation and fun! Have a favorite staycation activity that is also budget friendly? Share with us using #myHUECU.
