Supporting Local Marathon Teams

The Credit Union is honored to support the initiatives of several local marathon teams from the communities we serve.

HUECU President & CEO Gene Foley met with Harvard College students representing the Harvard Marathon Challenge team (pictured left). The team will be running in support of the Phillips Brooks House Association, a student-run, Harvard-based charity that operates over 70 programs serving Boston-area youth and families. HUECU is proud to provide a donation in support of their efforts.

Additionally, the MGH Emergency Response and Pediatric Cancer Teams joined forces and created a limited edition T-shirt to raise funds. Proceeds of the #RUN4MGH shirts go to support programs for emergency preparedness, groundbreaking research, and to provide world-class care for young cancer patients. HUECU purchased the popular shirts for our Mass General Hospital and Charlestown Navy Yard branches and made them available to members while supplies lasted.

The Credit Union also provided a donation in support of our members from the Dana-Farber community. The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge Teams are raising critical funds to benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Since taking its first steps in 1990, DFMC has raised more than $74 million, resulting in improved survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients everywhere.

We wish our Harvard College, MGH, and Dana Farber teams a memorable run, and thank you for your dedicated efforts in helping these programs grow and thrive.

Best of luck in running Boston’s 120th!
