Written by HUECU | Apr 5, 2021 4:19:14 PM

At HUECU, we’re committed to helping students reach their financial and academic goals. That’s why we award ten $1,000 scholarships to students starting their first year of college.

In the program’s fifth year, the all-volunteer Scholarship Review Committee reviewed a number of applications from students across the country. Like our applicants, the committee volunteers represent a diverse group of individuals from our own HUECU community. We would like to thank all of our Scholarship Review Committee members for their time and advocacy on the behalf of these talented students.

WHAT INFORMATION IS USED TO DETERMINE WHO RECEIVES A SCHOLARSHIP?

  • Our scholarships are for high school seniors who will be enrolled in an undergraduate, accredited U.S. college degree program during the following academic year and the applicant and/or their parent/guardian must be a HUECU member in good standing.
  • Applicants are asked to detail their Community service, extracurricular activities, unpaid internships, and employment background.
  • Their most recent transcript is reviewed.
  • The essay portion asks the student to describe a person or event that has had a profound impact on their life.
  • Identifying information, such as name, gender, and address, is removed from every application prior to the review and selection process.

HUECU congratulates all of our applicants for their achievements and resiliency through their senior year! We wish them all the best of luck as they begin their college journey this fall!
